THE VERB
I: What is a verb?
Definition: A verb is a kind of word which can
be used to help other verbs in a sentence to make a positive, negative, and question
with their own meanings. Some verbs help other verbs in a sentence to make a
negative, and question with no meaning and other verbs can be used to show an
action or state. A verb can be recognized by its location. It means that the
verbs almost always come after a noun or pronoun. These nouns and pronouns are working
as the subject.
For example:
Mark eats his dinner
quickly.
We went to the market.
You write neatly in
your notebook.
They thought about all
the prizes in the competition.
I can speak two
languages.
They are working in an
office.
My friends were working
at ten o’clock last night.
Mike will come here
tomorrow.
He could swim when he
was five.
We can drive a car
well.
I would come early the
next day.
We shall come early
tomorrow.
You should study hard
to pass the exams.
They may be late for
the meeting.
