THE ENGLISH QUANTIFIERS
Definition: Quantifiers are
a sort of determiner which expresses the imprecise number or amount of
something. They modify nouns or pronouns. They are different from the numbers
or numerals which indicate the precise quantity.
The most common quantifiers used in English are:
some / any
much/many
a lot/lots of, plenty of
a few/few
several
enough
each
every

For example:
John has some money.
Mary doesn’t have any money in her pocket.
Mike doesn’t have much homework.
There aren’t many people living in the
countryside.
We have planted a lot of trees in front of our
house.
George has a little money. It is enough
for his breakfast.
Jane has few best friends. She is so lonely.
She has little flour, so she can’t make a cake.
There are several students in the class.
Each teacher should prepare the lesson plan before
going to teach.
Every human ought to be honest.
